Spam Filtering Service
Supposedly this is the most effective way to stop spam with a near 100
percent effective rate. Two prominent ones are SpamArrest.com and
MessageFire.com Even reformed computer criminal and now computer

Giovanna,
I don't see your name as a member of the Rosacea Diet
Users Support Group, but have sent you an invitation
to join which all you do is follow the instructions
and you are a member. I have also forwarded your
comment below to the group for any suggestions the
group may have for your situation.
You may flush to vinegar or the nuts and can avoid
them both and try again in a week or so. I use
Balsamic Vinegar and Mixed nuts without peanuts and
have no problems. Haven't heard anyone in the group
complain of flushing using either, but some may and
haven't posted about this. Hope you join the group and keep
posting your results.

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and would love any support you guys could
give!!!
I have recently become aware that I suffer from rosacea and I am
devastated. To hear "there is no cure" seems upsetting for me. I
know it can be "controlled", but it still seems scary.
I know I am probabally over-reacting but I have found my self
esteem has dropped tremendously at work and has ruined
several relationships. Often I can't even look at someone's face
when I speak to them. I've grown my hair long and always wear it
down so that I can cover the "redness" . I've become severely
depressed and keep myslelf busy with several jobs so I don't
have to see my friends.
Did anyone else feel the same???
How did you guys deal when you first found out?
Any tips you can provide regarding keeping redness under
control. (foods to avoid, products that aggravated your condition
etc.)
My health coverage won't cover medications and I am saving up
to go to school. Are there any natural treatments you found
helped??
thanks in advance!!!!
Dear rosaceans,
For those who like to see the Almighty's justice, in action, and might
appreciate a possible chuckle, see:
Please STOP buying worthless rosacea products. You are
only feeding the drug companies money machine. As long as
we keep buying these useless products, they will just keep
rolling them out. Year after year doctors and pharmaceutical
companies ring up the register as we suffer.
Rosacea is a huge money maker. Why do you think they keep
advertising those Rosacea awareness commercials? Out of the
goodness of their heart to help you? Of course not! They
just want to sell you their worthless snake oil.
Take a stand and stop throwing away your hard earned cash on
these bogus products. Let's join together so we can get
the point across to them. Hit them where it matters most -
their wallet! They have no incentive to find a real cure as
long as we keep buying into it.
Just Don't Do It!
Tom-
When you mentioned "boils" are you referring to cystic acne? If so,
that's a tough type of acne to treat - When my rosacea was at its
worst, I started to develop cystic acne in addition to classic
rosacea acne, but thankfully made some changes, including diet that
helped. Yes, the diet does help keep the acne at bay, but
admittedly I still have a few non-cystic breakouts that I control
with topicals, but its NOTHING like before.
Not all derms would recommend this, but I use retin A micro about 3-
4 times a week sparingly, along with Dermalogica mediciated
treatment gel applied directly to the pimple when it occurs. This
and letting my skin get back in balance with more gentle products
really helped - the prescribed stuff is really harsh. Since the
diet - esp removing the sugar, I've noticed that my face doesn't
look slightly swollen anymore. There are some rosacean who use very
low dose accutane (10-20 mg I think) with success and there are some
studies on it- but personally I opted for a less internally
intrusive method.
I don't know much about the laser, I have somewhat dark skin and am
leary of trying lasers - since they tend cause hyperpigmentation in
darker complexions.
Hope this helps.
I'm sure it varies for everyone, but I'm good and red
within 20-30 minutes of eating sugary garbage like a
donut and almost instantly with anything spicy. It
takes very little spice to be too spicy for me.
(cottage cheese is my friend). The redness is usually
gone by the next day if I don't continue to aggrivate
it with more sugars or spice. Food doesn't usually
trigger the acne like symptoms with me, but stress can
bring out the papules/pastules in just a matter of a
few hours, and can take days/weeks to go away.
I don't know if 'technically' this helps but I'd not
eat a cake and plan on going to the prom the same
evening.

Hello Tom,
I feel for you truly.. I have been diagnosed with Rosacea for almost 3 years
now..diagnosed right after my third child.
Anyway, I have followed the advice of Brady and purchased the book. I HAVE
SEEN A COMPLETE DIFFERENCE IN MY FACE..NO MORE FLUSHING OR FLARES FOR OVER 1
MONTH NOW.
As I stated once before I did not follow the diet plan exactly as written in
the book, but being a pretty conscious eater already..I just lowered my carb
intake and No Sugar. It can be difficult at times, but THERE IS A HUGE
PAYOFF..CLEARER SKIN.
It definitely works for me.
Hope this helps!! and best of luck to you.
Kendalle
Dear Tom,
In the view of alternative health, boils come about so the body can release
excess poison/toxins from the body, They are ugly and bothersome, but they
are something to be thankful for. They will naturally cease when the body is
not overloaded any more. You mentioned peas and ham possibly connected to
it...and you just might be right....your body may not accept those foods and
gets rid of them asap. When most of us in the group started on the rosacea
diet..we went through lots of changes including breaking out and as we
progressed those changes ceased and we were filled with energy and best of
all rosacea free.
You can help your cleansing with psysillium husk powder and bentonite(liquid
clay)
Yucky tasting but works great for fiber we need every day and the clay draws
out all the impurities.
Before I started the rosacea diet I was consuming 150 carbs just for
breakfast and I was shocked. I managed to bring myself down to 30 carbs for
30 days and that was challenging, but I was determined. Now a year later my
eating habits are completely changed and I can carefully eat more than 30
carbs a day...thank goodness. So graduate yourself down to 30 carbs for 30
days and know there will be light at the end of 30 days.
Lee.
I can second that. As long as I keep the sugars (the sucralose and saccharin
that the Atkins diet book says to use instead of sugar or aspartame) to a very
very small amount, my face can go without makeup, being normal to slightly
pink. If I add the sweetners back in, my face gets progressively redder until I
have to use makeup to hide it. So far I've lost 20 pounds in 3 months. And that
is without adding lots of exercise to my day. I just walk the dog in the cool
evenings and walk to the bus or subway for work.
Pam in (Washington) D.C.
Hi,
I was just curious if anyone knows, technicaly how long it takes when you eat
something and it showing a reaction on your face in the
form of greater-redness/pastule/papule.
Thanks
Nick
Tom,
I have forwarded this to the group.
Maybe some in the group can answer your questions. My advice is
try the Rosacea Diet for thirty days at 30 grams of carbohydrates
a day. You will find this may help control it. You are almost
there. Hopefully the group may have some suggestions.

The Atkin's Diet is good for rosacea.
It will not cure rosacea but it
does control it.

Marilyn,
I have been getting a ridiculous amount of email from
group members with attachments. Someone is obviously
having a lot of fun at our expense and irritation. If the
culprit is found he or she will be permanetly banned. Now
I know why this feature of banning is given to the moderators
and the group owner. I have never used it but my mouse
button is ready to strike as soon as I find the nasty bugger.
We have enough stress in our life with rosacea, etc. I think
whoever this troll is will eventually be found out.
Brady
Patti,
Love that bike! The lo carb bar sounds great. As to
digestable carbs verses total carbs, just stick to the
total carbs for thirty days or until your rosacea is
under control and then experiment all you want!
Brady
Thanks Dave for clearing that up.
Brady
Hi Brady - I'm still playing around with this so I hope that it
works! My email name is "love to be on bike" I think that I should
have put "bee" instead of "b" but oh well - I was just messing around
one day! I long distance bicycle and it's a true statement when I
say I love to be on my bike!
One question that I have is whether Biochem's "Ultimate LO Carb Bar"
at 2grams of carbs is okay to use when I ride? The only ingredient
listed that I thought might be a sugar is Glycerin. I ride from 2-3
hours with usually one stop and need something to refuel with. I
would like any other suggestions you might have about this. This is
the main area that I have a hard time with this type of diet but I
know that if I was usually carbs right to begin with my Rosacea
probably wouldn't be so bad so I am willing to give this a shot.
Also, in the Atkins book there is two different counts for the carbs
Total and digestible - do we use digestible for the number that we
count? Thanks for your help - Patti Hale

Dear Brady,
I did not realize the message was that long! Like you, I did not see the whole
message! Kristal wasn't posting to "announce", she was posting to help Steve,
who had posted a message, (Subject: Help), of the kind of grinding suffering so
many rosaceans are going through! No one else has answered Steve, even now! We
should not forget Steve!
For my post about Pharmasave Drugs, Ltd, where Kristal got her [FLUCOANZOLE 1%

Congratulations! You will find that most rosaceans won't
change their diet but a minority will. Thanks for the post
and I hope you stay in the group! You can offer your own
diet suggestions to the group. As you read in my book,
the reason the thirty day plan is so strict is to get the rosacea
under control. AFTER the thirty days you can change it
ANY WAY YOU WANT. A simple method to control rosacea.
On my site I quote email messages like yours for the public
to read, and one person wrote, 'if those testimonials were
true, it should be broadcast all over the country.' The fact
is that it is true and is broadcast all over the internet, yet
rosaceans ignore it because most rosaceans will not change
their diet but prefer pills, topicals, IPL, and other treatments.
Brady
Kristal,
Thanks for the post. Keep us informed
of your progress and what your physician
in Canada says about this treatment. You
have no idea how important your post is
to so many rosaceans. Since no one other
that you, Dave and Jordan are the only
ones who have reported any good news
about this treatment. It is interesting that
you put in the subject, Re: help. You don't
seem to be crying help. Dave is on a roll,
but remember what I said Dave about your
long posts. Let Kristal, Jordan or whoever
else wants to discuss this post their results.
And Dave, try real hard not to upset
Kristal.
Group, what Dave is concerned about, as
others may possibly be also, is that Jordan
and Kristal are trolls. However, I see no
evidence of any of this. There are no hard
facts to prove whether a person is a troll
in these cases. In America, everyone is
innocent until proven guilty and giving
everyone a benefit of the doubt is the
better course. However, it looks like
Canada may get some points on this one
for being a bit more liberal than American
physicians.

SAStid soap can be special ordered at the pharmacy
at Wal-Mart or any good pharmacy. Stiefel Labs makes
it. I have a link on my PRODUCTS page to one online
drug store that sells it
http://rosaceadiet.com/html/products.html
A note if you are using Rosacea LTD-III products:
Ralph Bass told me not to use SAStid soap with his
products since it would be too much sulphur for
my face. He suggests CETAPHIL soap instead. I
still use SAStid since I like it and only use his
tan disc infrequently. I don't think that is too
much sulphur. Your choice to decide.
Brady
Hello to Brady and all,
Just to let you know the results of my diet.
OH MY GOODNESS.. I am so happy.. I started this diet over 3 weeks ago
now..and have not flushed once and I have not had ANY breakouts.
This is such a great thing..I used to be concerned about what my face would
look like and not want to look when I woke up..BUT now ,I am so pleased.
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT..dermatologist don't even hint to change your
diet..that is really sad.
I do have an appointment with a new dermatologist April 21st..last one flaky.
Anyway, I have a pretty good list of questions for her that day..and if she
has trouble answering?? I will keep searching for a new one.
Right now, extremely happy with my results. diet and meds working wonders for
me.
I do have to say that I do not follow the exact diet scheduled in the book,
but I do definitely follow the no sugar, low carb and SEEING GREAT RESULTS. I
have watched what I eaten for years so this is not a problem.
I am so excited that I tell everybody about this diet....and I am so suprised
to hear all of the people that have this disease or those who know people
with this disease.
I figure I have it..for some reason..so maybe it is my mission to educate
others about this illness as well as help if I can.
Thank you Brady!!!!!!!!!
Kendalle
Can you please tell me where "SAStid Soap" can be bought. I never
heard of it.

Please remove me from your list. I found your e-mails very helpful, but I

Jordan,
Sorry. You are the first Jordan I know that is
female. I hope you continue to feel comfortable
to post here. I was flabergasted myself that it
was announced first at rosaceans. I think Dave
is simple overwhelmed with conspiracy theories
and needs to take a long vacation from all this.
You are obviously no longer anonymous. I
am sure the rosaceans group will benefit from
your perspective on 1 % Flucanazole DMSO.
I think we can keep Dave from making long
posts here since he has been cooperative till
now.
I understand your disgust and can relate.
Please be assured that in this group you will
be respected for your insight into all this. Most
of us here I think are curious about what happened
and since you are the only one other than Dave
to mention your success with this it is refreshing
to have your viewpoint. Again, thanks for
your posts.
Brady
SAStid is a sulphur base soap. Stiefel makes several
brands of sulphur base soap and other products for
skin. Some rosaceans have issues with sulphur base
products, but usually it helps rosaceans.
Brady
Dave,
I know you are excited about all this and
you can handle all this on your own board.
Please keep your long posts over on your board
which is the appropriate place to discuss all this.
Any in the rosaceans group are welcome to join
you in this discussion in your board. I don't mind
you posting short messages in this group but
the long ones are more appropriate in your group.
I thought Jordan's post was appropriate and to
the point. I am happy for Jordan and you. It will
be nice to hear again from Jordan in six months
if this continues to work for him.
Brady
For everyone,
Jordan sent the following message today, but attempted to post it at
rosacea-cure again, rather than sending it to me privately, as I had requested.
That could be a bad sign, or perhaps Jordan just did not read my email to him
carefully. I have edited his email address out of this message. For an
explanation of my editing, see:
Kathy,
My rosacea is under control. I have been on this diet since 1999.
When I cheat I usually break out with rosacea in a few days. Once
in a while I can eat carbohydrates and get by with it, especially
while on a vacation. No stress I think. I only use SAStid soap and
occasional use of Rosacea LTD-III, the tan disc. I even shave with
SAStid soap! Once in a while I may use Gillette Gel for Sensitive Skin
No fragrance to shave with, just for a change. So how is your rosacea?
It has been about a month on the diet, right?
Brady
To all "rosaceans" members,
If anyone wants to see a short example, (concerning Jordan's claim of success),
of the kind of battle I am fighting, to establish [FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION] as
the treatment/cure it is, for rosacea, see:
Brady, how long have you been on this diet and is your rosacea under
control? Do you still flare when you go out in the wind etc. Do you
still have problems with the things you use on your face? Thanks! Kathy
Brady,
Here is an excerpt I found from his website Mercola.com:
And so, my qualifications: first and foremost, I am an osteopathic
physician, also known as a DO. DOs are complete physicians who, along with
MDs, are licensed to prescribe medication and perform surgery in all 50
states. But DOs bring something extra to the practice of medicine.
Osteopathic physicians practice a "whole person" approach to medicine,
treating the entire person rather that just the symptoms. With a focus on
preventive health care, DOs help patients develop attitudes and lifestyles
that don't just fight illness, but help prevent it, too.
I am also board-certified in family medicine and served as the chairman of
the family medicine department at St. Alexius Medical Center for five years.
I am trained in both traditional and natural medicine and have been

Dr. Mercola has something interesting to say about
what to avoid eating to control rosacea
Fortunately, rosacea is typically quite an easy problem to treat. More
than half the time it responds to the elimination of grains, primarily
wheat, and sugars from the diet.
I now have another 'doctor' to quote, but I can't figure out
what kind of doctor he is. If anyone figures this out
let me know.

Hi,
I tried the Fluconazole 1% solution that is the basis of the group
rosacea-cure, and it really works!
I was able to get a Rx for it from my doctor. Two months ago I began
putting a small amount on my face. My rosacea is almost gone now.
Thought I would share this with you all, since it's working for me.
Jordan
Is this the kind that makes you flush??? Because I have been having
alot more flushing than usual lately. Well, it's day 15, 1/2 way
there, like it is going to be a big change when I get there, ha! But I
can try new things then and see how it goes, maybe have an apple or
something???? It hasn't been too hard so far but I am probably
starting a new job on Monday and it will be heard to see how the rest
of the bunch eat, ha, I do think some of them are on the ATkins diet
tho, and a cafe next door that the owner is on the diet too, and cooks
atkins food for them, that would be really nice sometimes. I am taking
evening primrose oil also, has anyone had that to cause flushing? I
keep putting it off on the weather and stress, but I want to make sure
I'm not doing it to myself with something I am taking. Thanks! Kathy
Thank you so much for posting the article. It has
inspired to me to get strict and follow the diet!
I am now on day 1 of the diet
My rosacea came after using Mary Kay timewise in Fall
2000. I used it for several weeks and my face got
redder and redder in two spots near my nose. I never
recovered from it until I used the Linda Sy products.
I never thought it was a coincidence...especially
since the longer I used the Mary Kay timewise, the
worse I got.

Has everyone seen the amazing statement by Dr. Lazoff, concerning the usually
misunderstood relationship between flushing and rosacea? Brady Barrows seems to
have asked the most perceptive question I have ever seen, regarding this
widespread confusion. The last message, in this exchange, which contains Dr.
Lazoff's very comprehensive and revealing statement, is at:

"It's been very difficult-I find that when I brush my teeth I am
excited because the toothpaste tastes sweeter than anything I am
allowed to eat. But then I think, uh oh, there's probably sugar in
my toothpaste!"
Your toothpaste does not have sugar, ha!, but saccarin or sorbital.
There are some toothpastes out there (Tom's of Maine is one) that
don't have either. My esthestician thinks my former toothpaste may
have been contributing to a slight rash that I seem to get
occasionally with a flare-up. Now I use a homeopathic one which
helps a lot.
"The two products I'm questioning: my tea and chicken spice. I
drink Yogi Bedtime Tea which doesn't mention sugar but it does list
ten organic roots and flowers (stevia leaf being one, licorice root,
cinnamon bark, etc). Could these sweet ingredients be a cause?"
It may not be the sugar, but an ingredient in the products that
causing the problem, but its tricky and takes a while to figure out -
like hot sauce - its the capsein component in the peppers (sp?)
that kicks butt. Try switching to a single or fewer ingredient tea
and/or spice and see how that works. Sometimes its trial and error.
"Then my herb chicken spice (mccormick) lists no sugar, but salt is
in the ingredients. Should I also avoid every product that contains
salt because as Brady mentions there is sugar in some salts (it was
in mine)?"
Again, maybe you have allergies (triggers) to things other than
sugar. Try sea salt - I think its actually cheaper in some places
that regular salt. It would difficult to avoid every product that
contains salt. Again, try to single ingredient spices and see what
happens - sometimes you can find them in bulk at some stores/co-ops
and its much cheaper to mix your own.
"I'm wondering how detrimental all those vitamins you have listed
are Brady during this diet...I know I can not afford to go buy them
all...are there a few more pertinent than others that I can get by
with?"
Not everyone follows the book to the tee :) - I only take a multi,
acidophilus and evening primrose oil (which I take mostly for
something else). I use to take more, but I too cannot afford to
purchase any additional supplements at this time and so far its
working out just fine. Both the Multi and acidolphilus you can get
pretty cheap - watch for sales!! Start with what you can afford and
work you way into more (if you need them) as you get promoted!
"I found Adams 100% natural peanut butter and the ingredients say:
Peanuts, Contains 1% or less of salt. That's it. Seems like it
would be allowable as long as I watch my carbs, but eating something
this sweet on the diet seems too good to be true! Is it really
safe?"
This is one of my fav ppb brands as well!! Remember, your pallet (or
sense of taste) is changing rapidly - even slightly sweet things
will taste very sweet, and so on. Crushed roasted peanuts, as well
as a lot of other foods have a naturally sweet taste that we don't
pick up bec of the previous state our bodies were in. Sometimes I
find even apples and oranges overwhelming.
Hope this helps.

Shallon,
Forgot about vitamins.
Just read what I say in note number 5 at the end, 'your choice - these are just
a
suggestion.' If money is an issue, think about all the money you are saving not
buying junk food? You won't believe how much energy you will get from taking
vitamins
and just try them for a month and see the difference. Then stop taking them and
see
if you do notice a difference. You need to build up your body to a healthy
state and
vitamins can do that for along with all the protein which heals. Nice face,
healthy body,
so, what else do you want? That's in another book.

Shallon,
Welcome to the group.
You are one funny person. You should enter the Rosacea Diet Humor for
2003 and see if you can beat GTs' humor she posted last year at
this url
Hello all~
I'm 25 years old and brand new to this wonderful world of Rosacea. I've just
been sitting back reading the emails while I tried the diet out for myself. The
good news is that within 3 days I definitely noticed a difference, but the bad
news is that now that really means this diet works and I can't eat all that
great junk anymore. Haha. It's been very difficult-I find that when I brush my
teeth I am excited because the toothpaste tastes sweeter than anything I am
allowed to eat. But then I think, uh oh, there's probably sugar in my
toothpaste! I can't believe how MANY items it is in! Well my question is this.
Something has caused me to flare up and I can't figure it out because sugar is
not mentioned on any of my food labels (and I wear no makeup or lotion that
causes flareups). The two products I'm questioning: my tea and chicken spice.
I drink Yogi Bedtime Tea which doesn't mention sugar but it does list ten
organic roots and flowers (stevia leaf being one, licorice root, cinnamon bark,
etc). Could these sweet ingredients be a cause? Then my herb chicken spice
(mccormick) lists no sugar, but salt is in the ingredients. Should I also avoid
every product that contains salt because as Brady mentions there is sugar in
some salts (it was in mine)? Last two questions and this first one I can
already hear a parental type answer. ( : I'm wondering how detrimental all
those vitamins you have listed are Brady during this diet. I know that sounds
bad even asking, but like I said, I'm 25 and just starting life out on my own.
I know I can not afford to go buy them all...are there a few more pertinent than
others that I can get by with? And last question. I found Adams 100% natural
peanut butter and the ingredients say: Peanuts, Contains 1% or less of salt.
That's it. Seems like it would be allowable as long as I watch my carbs, but
eating something this sweet on the diet seems too good to be true! Is it really
safe? I'm on day 7 of this diet-days 5 and 6 were slightly flare days, but the
rest have been great. Brady, I've already passed along how to get your book to
my boss because she suffers as well. I'm really appreciative that you are
involved with this whole process-that was what really sold me on trying this
diet out and I am so grateful that I did. Thank you!
Shallan

No I'm sorry - I am a terrible cook - probably shouldn't even be allowed
in the kitchen! I do very boring things like grill/poach salmon and
most of all I like to eat it cold with salad. If anyone has any recipes
- I would love it too! Apparently the tinned salmon is even better for
you because it includes all the bones - great for calcium. I don't
particularly care for the flavor.

In the welcome letter sent to new members I have added some rules and
tried to make it as simple as possible. Here they are and moderators please
note:
So far there are only two rules fo this group to keep it
simple.
(1) First and foremost attachments are not permitted either to the
group or to any member in a personal email unless both
members agree. Violation of this may result in banishment
from the group. Spamming group memers is also not allowed.
Trolls will be banished. To understand what a troll is see this

Suzanna, o you have some receipes you could pass on for the salmon,
thanks! Kathy
Angela,
You are incorrect. While you need glucose to
survive, you can get glucose from protein or
fat. If you strictly only had carbohydrate, for
instance, hundreds of pounds of table sugar,
and water, but no protein or fat you would
eventually get sick and die. The human health
requirement for carbohydrate is zero.
(Don't tell me you also need water - I am on a
roll here speaking just about the three food
groups -- we also need a host of other things
to survive, like correct body temperature, oxygen,
vitamins, minerals, etc.)
Eating no carb will not lead to ketoacidosis and
eventual death. Absolute nonsense. You are confusing
ketosis with ketoacidosis, a common misunderstanding.
See this url
http://www.ketosis-ketoacidosis-difference.com/
If you bring up ketosis, then how did the Eskimo
survive? Rather nicely on a high fat diet.
Having no carbohdyrate is rare since carbohydrate is so
abundant. But you don't need it to survive. You
are mistaken. You need protein and fat to survive.
You need glucose to survive. All three food groups
can provide glucose. But you cannot get protein
or fat from carbohydrate. Impossible. And
if you lack protein or fat you will die since these
two food groups are essential for human survival.
You are probably confusing glucose with
carbohydrate. While glucose is one carbohydrate
there are many other units of sugar which are
carbohydrate; Fructose, sucrose, etc. The human
body requires glucose and oxygen for fuel which
is essential for human survival.
Most people obtain glucose from carbohydrate
and the planet has an abundance to eat. However,
strictly speaking you can live without carbohydrate.
While this thought is repulsive and scarry, you don't
have to avoid carbohydrate totally since you can
eat all the carbohydrate you want. Since
carbohydrate is just different units of sugar and
we all like the taste of sugar, we just love
carbohydrate. So don't worry, you don't have
to just eat protein and fat. You can have your
carbs. You can relax now.

Apparently there is a virus out there that can pick off the addresses
in email that is in a person's inbox and use those to sub into
messages it sends out. So if someone gets an email list, the virus can
pick out, say my email from having posted a message, plug it in on the
infected computer (which I have no connection to) and then pick
another address as the recipient. Which means you might have no idea
where it really came from. We had this happen on 2 hobby/collecting
lists I moderate. It's one thing to use a person's address book, but
this virus skips that and just sucks out the emails and the addresses
in them and skips the address book of the pc.
So after that, we just set the group to No Attachments so that no one
could accidentally send one via the list.

Kathy,
we are happy for you.

Thanks, I am doing what I am suppose to and it has paid off. Today was
my first day in years to be able to wear makeup without stinging and I

Hi Jill,
I had never noticed it bacause I don't read my mail on the web. That is just

Dear Jacy, Marilyn, and all Rosaceans,
To keep this short, am composing it from scratch. Everything seems "normal"
now, but do not know if and when this could occur again, and be much worse.
Once before, with the "bugbear", I think you saved me by immediately announcing
it, so I deleted anything with an attachment. Even though it's off-topic, I
deeply appreciate your help. If there is any change, or anything of interest, I
will contact you privately.
Thank you so much for your work.
God Bless,

Kathy,
AFTER the thirty days you can eat the non-starchy vegetables all
you want! DURING the thirty day Rosacea Diet plan, vegetarians
may substitute the non-starchy vegetables for the meats but still
must eat no more than thirty grams of carbohydrates a day. This
is difficult for vegans. Very small amounts of non-starchy vegetables.
See note number 20 at end of book for suggestion on how to determine
carb gram counts. I realize this is tough, but so is rosacea.
If you are a meat eater, you may do the same as a vegetarian,
but if you want to control your rosacea, you MUST keep the carbs
to less than 30 grams a day. This is the way it is done. It works.
It is worth the effort. Prove it to yourself. Then you can tell the
group your results. That is why this group is here.
Brady
Why can't we eat the non starchy vegetables that the vegitarians can
eat?? Is niacinimide the kind that makes you flush? That is in my
b-comples vitamin. Any receipes for cooking fish without batter or
cornmeal? I thought lemon pepper marinade to try and bake the fish. What
about summer squash? Kathy
Hello,
I just joined this group. I'm wondering why my screen is purple, and
if there is any way to change the color. It's very difficult to read
the posts.

Jill
Why dont you post it here for all of us to see?
SHARE it with the forum!
Marilyn
I'm playing catch-up on the last few days of posts, so I'm not sure
where I read the following statement:
"Fat and protein is essential for
human survival, carbohydrate is
not."
Not quite true. Carbohydrate is essential for human survival. Keep
in mind that there is a big difference between Low carb and No carb.
Most people (some diabetics are an exception) can tolerate a Low carb
diet down to about 20 carbs/day. Some amount of Carbohydrate is
required for cellular processes in the body though. None of the
doctors involved will debate that.
A diet with no carbs will not sustain human life. It leads to
ketoacidosis and eventually death. Some diabetics already deal with
ketosis and are at higher risk. For the diabetics out there...There
are at home kits available you can use to test for Ketosis.

I witnessed the most wonderful thing just last night..a woman used a
skin care product that reduced the redness that has been all over her
face for 10 years. She is on prescription drugs and after using this
skin care product she looked in the mirror to see how her face looked
and she started to notice after looking for a minute the redness had
somewhat disappeared..the deepness of it anyway. She seriously
started to cry and proceeded to tell us how ugly she had felt w/ this
skin disorder. I was so happy for her...I started to cry..
I want to share what the product is..
I am not lying and want to help you..I am a big time sufferer of
exzema...

Dave, did you send a e-mail through this forum with an
attachment?
If you did please do NOT do that again.
*IF* you sent it.
There are too many viruses going around including
Love Blaster which has shut down many computors
this week.
If you did NOT send an attachment then it is the virus itself
and you yourself are a victim so I am not pointing fingers
at you.
Im only asking.
In another forum that I belong to we all got an e-mail
with an attachment but we NEVER get attachments through that
forum so we all knew it was the virus.
So,,just to let you know Dave if you did send it dont
do it again.
Its against the forum rules.
If you did not send it its the virus and please be careful.

Besides the "Wasa" Brady referred to there is also a rye cracker
called "Ryvita" that comes in at least three different types. They are made in
England without sugar and have 30 gms carbs in four crackers. To me the
Ryvita "Dark Rye" or "Light Rye with Sesame" taste much better than Wasa (less
like cardboard).

I am similar in that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason
for my flareups. Sometimes I can eat a lot of sugar and not
have a flair up. Then all of a sudden I get flare ups
but I think they are related to monthly hormonal changes
I do not experience hot flushing, just redness, but it
is not painful.
Aside from the monthly hormonal changes, it is hard for
me to pinpoint triggers
(Note to mediators: tried to send a version of this once,
but I don't think it worked. I apologize if this is a repeat,
though.)
Just a reminder that the Adkins diet is not just the highly
carb restrictive diet for those who need to lose weight.
the life-management Adkins diet is very healthy. Lots of
veggies and fruits (limiting some like bananas and
potatoes, though), and keeping the carb count in a
healthier range, with fiber carbs counting in the
negative, i.e. a piece of whole-grain bread with 13
grams of carbs and 4 grams of fiber only counts as 9
grams of carbs. It is very much against hydronated fats
(which is in most processed foods). I had been eating
a healthy diet before but I still had trouble with
genetically low blood sugar (cold sweats, shakes,
foggy mind and ravenous hunger, my mother actually
passes out when hers drops). As soon as I read the
diet I restricted my grains and "starches" a little and
watered down my juices and my blood sugar and my
face are much happier. Ironically, back in my 20s my
chiropractor tried to get me on the same diet (didn't call
it Adkins) but I didn't have much discipline back then.
Interesting experience: I went to the Carribean for a
week with my family knowing I would be sacrificing my
face for family fun time. Even though I used a lot of
Linda Sy's Zinco, my face still protested with postules.
To the amusement of my family, I went back to my daily
ritual of slathering my face with plain yogurt for about 20
minutes a day. It sticks to your face and cools any burn
you feel, and I swear it heals the postules. They get that
little circle of skin retreating around them, like you get
when a wound heals. After one day of returning and
getting out of the sun, my face looked like I never had
rosacea. There is probably only anecdotal evidence of
yogurt for the complexion. I've read that it was a favorite
of Cleopatra (how do they know that????), but also,
there are a lot of Lebanese families in our town.
Whenever a teen starts to get zits, they increase their
yogurt intake and the teens avoid the acne phase. Even
the teens admit it and that is something to admit your
parents are right. Some are my neighbors and some
are my students so I've seen what they are talking
about. Anyway, yogurt is cheaper than prescription
medicine.
Good luck to all,
Anne
I was wondering if there was anyone who was like me. I can eat whatever I want
(at least so it seems) and do any activity and never have "flare ups". I can't
pinpoint my rosacea to any factor that makes it better or worse, its just
constant. I have been on the diet with no effects and I have also gorged myself
with the so-called trigger foods and have no reaction. My face still itches all
the time, even when it is moisturized. Does anyone else's rosacea act like
this? What else could it be? No medication has worked for me so far either.
Help! Betty
--
Hi, Debbie - I use GenTeal Eye Gel and I like it because it has a
thicker consistency. My eyes have varying stages of 'soreness'
throughout the day so I use it 3-4 times a day. I don't have a lot of
exudate but clean my eyes very carefull twice a day anyway!
Diane
Tom,
What is the update on your rosacea?
Just curious, since it has been 10 days
since your last post?
Brady
Kathy,
Once your body adjusts to the high protein
and settles out, I think you will have your
energy back. You may have some allergy
to grass? I know when I use the weed whacker
my eyes usually give me an allergic reaction
but I don't flush. Watch the amount of
nuts you eat and count those carbs! It is
just for three more weeks for you and
you are already noticing the difference.
Brady
And just to add to this Marilyn....in the schools that have banned
all junk food, the behaviour of the students has improved so
dramatically, that now many other schools are following suit.
A step in the right direction!
Heather
Thanks for the info. Yes I was doing great till I mowed the lawn. The
diet doesn't keep you from haveing those types of triggers, does it? I
still have the weak feeling in the mornings, it gets a little better as
the day goes on. I am eating more nuts and things now to "fill in" I
usually have a good supper. I may have to quit mowing the grass. There
are alot of things us Rosaceans can't do, huh? Kathy
I forgot to mention Brady that all fats are not the same.
There are good fats and bad fats.
A real good book to read is *Fats that heal and fats that kill*.
Example,,,,Olive oil is a healthy fat that heals.
Crisco is a junk oil bad fat that kills.
I also heard a interesting clip on the radio this morning about kids eating
habits in schools and the JUNK FOOD that is fed to them in the cafeterias.
One school is actually going to REPLACE all the junk food machines(pop, chocolate
bars, chips etc) with a healthy food bar with salads, juices and SOY
products!!!!
I was both stunned and pleased!.
The news clip went on to say that not only is the food at schools junk for the
kids but it is one of the MAIN reasons for bad teenage complexions!
Hooray!
Soemone is listening!
:)
Marilyn
Wasa crackers are available at most supermarkets. I buy mine
at Price Chopper. There are several different kinds but I prefer
the Rye. There are however other rye crackers low in carbohydrates -
approximately 7 grams per slice. On the thirty day Rosacea Diet
plan, these crackers can add up fast however, so watch it. After
the thirty days, eat all you want! See what happens?
There is an address on the package for consumer relations:
Wasa Consumer Relations
400 Lyster Ave
Saddle Brook, NY 07663
It is a product of Sweden and is distributed by Liberty Richter
of Saddle Brook NJ 07663. I see on web address or email.
So how is your rosacea going? Controlled with diet?
Brady
Thanks for your note Marilyn. As always, I appreciate your advocacy
(and passion) for controlling disease with raw food.
We "spoke" before, in early July....you mentioned you are setting up
a web site...how's it coming along?
Heather
Heather!
This is so neat to hear!
I too eat a HIGH carb diet through natural fruits and veggies.
I too do not include fruits as high carbs(although they are) as I would junk
food.
It does not flare me at all, rather all the vitamins and minerals that our skin
need has put me into remission.
I also cleanse on a regular basis to get the toxins out of my body.
I started doing that over two years ago and I have not had a break out since!.
Im happy for your success and it is nice to hear of others who are on a high
carb diet yet seeing improvement.
I have been feeling as though I am the ONLY one here !
LOL

Thats a good post Pam!
I also use OLIVE OIL.
I love it.
The health benefits are wonderful.
Fat from olive oil does not cause cancer specifically breast cancer.
Just ask the greeks! lol
I also LOVE *feta cheese* Pam!
I just had some today on my greek salad.
It was from sheeps milk.
Ohhhhhhhhh my,,,,yummy.
The REAL thing.
Real feta cheese(gourmet kind) is made from goat and sheep cheeses.
I also love swiss and gouda.
And you are eating your cancer fighting veggies.
Veggies are a lot lower in carbs than fruit so if you are watching your carbs
veggies are the way to go.
And yes the fat in the meat and broth is good for your pets!
I,ve never tried walnut oil.
Thats also great that you not CRAVING sweets as much.
That is typical when you switch to a heathier diet.
You start craving the healthy stuff.
Im happy for your success!
Marilyn
Well, I haven't increased my fat intake very much and the lo carb
approach still causes weight loss. I changed my oils to olive oil
since it does have health benefits. I also have some walnut oil I
use for stir fry and some white tea oil, which I use sometimes for
stir fry, but it's expensive. I still avoid the fat on beef and pork and
remove chicken skins (I make a broth for the dog's meals with it)
and I guess I stopped eating low fat cheese, but haven't really
increased my cheese intake--I am learning which ones trigger
me and which don't. Luckily my faves, feta and swiss, don't
trigger. hehe. I do look forward to trying the complex, unrefined
carbs like quinoa and spelt when I'm ready. Hopefully in
moderation, they won't trigger a rosacea response.
I guess the docs on both sides will argue for years--so I'll just try
and use my common sense and make sure I'm eating my
cancer-suppressing veggies and not adding in the unhealthy
fats and meats! And I've found that I haven't really craved any
sweets since I've been doing this (since late May). I sure hope
THAT stays! LOL.
Pam in D.C.
The only thing I have not given up is my Kona coffee each
morning. hehe.
Where do you buy these light rye crackers? This is my 7th day, so far so
good, I had a flare today, but it is from mowing the yard. I got hot,
wore a face mask for allergies so it was covered from the sun and of
course wore the big hat, long sleeves, etc. Just something I have to do.
Now my face is RED! Kathy
Thanks Deb, I think you are right about the hormone thing, I don't know
how long it will be before I go through menopause, could be starting to
now, but right now I call it PMS. Thanks for the info on constipation, I
am taking the magnesium now too, since I am not eating enough veggies,
maybe if my face stays good and even gets better I can get outside and
do some walking. Kathy
see note number four at end of book about flavored water
Brady
Mineren, thanks for the info and support, I do drink lots and lots of
water, I spend alot of time going to the bathroom! I am eating lots of
green veggies, yuk! I am also taking the magnesium now too. Has anyone
tried the flavored water? Is it allowed on the diet? Kathy
Onelove,
There is a plethora of scientific papers browbeating
Atkins, Drs. Eades and any low carb high protien diet.
There are also a growing number of scientific papers
showing the healthy effects of a low carb high protein
diet. Here is just one link for scientific reports on
the healthy effects of eating low carb
http://www.lowcarb.ca/
Any search on a search engine will give you a number
of sites indicating low carbohydrate is healthy. The
facts are that Americans have been eating high
carbohydrate for the past thirty years or more and a
whopping fifty five percent are obese. Diabetes grows
at a similar rate. Rosacea rates have too!
Yes the complex carbohydrates are better than the
simple carbohydrates. There is not a diet guro on the
planet who would knock vegetables. Even Atkins
says to eat them. Vegetables with a low glycemic
index are healthy for everyone. Even you have
stated in past emails that the simple carbohydrates like
starch and sugar are not healthy. Atkins validates
this as well. Many have found that the Atkins diet
does control rosacea while losing weight.
Brady Barrows
Thanks Suz for all the information, I really appreciate it! I am seeing
a gynocologist tomorrow for pms, but if what you say works for me I
won't need anything else for pms, that would be just wonderful! I am
taking the magnesium now and I take calcuium already. I quit smoking 12
years ago, very hard, I used the patch and trained my mind myself to not
want them anymore, I had alot of allergy problems at the time and now I
am almost allergy free! Congratulations on quitting smoking! The more
time that goes by the stonger you will become on the craving or whatever
it is that made us smoke. Kathy
Great, Ann, this is terrific news! Congrats!

The LINKS section is very informative.
Remember these products are to eaten AFTER

Then, enjoy and let the group know if any of
these products cause a rosacea flare. Maltitol
in increased amounts has been known to cause
diarhea and may not be good for your health.
Who knows what the long term effects are?
But for those of you willing to take the risk, well,
you may be able to tolerate these products with

Brady
Hi One and All,
It's been a long time coming,I know. It's been a long time since
I've posted. So much has been going on with me, I wanted to make
absolute sure that this was a done deal, before letting everyone
know. As you all know, at one time, Kristen and I tried desparately
to get all of our stories recogonized on tv talk shows such as Oprah,
20/20, etc. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The good news
however, is that I've been interviewed by an editor of a book, who
was extremely interested in my own personal rosacea story, all the
trials and tribulations, along with everything else that I've gone
through with this miserable delibating disease.
When I first contacted this particular editor, I had sent her my
story with all the details of do's and don't's, mostly don't's of
having a severe vascular disorder, including everything I was not
able to do in the beginning versus everything I can actually do now.
She was amazed to say the least that I had been able to fight my way
back from such a heart wrenchihg condition. At that point, she had
told me they were collecting all the stories previously and would be
back in touch soon. Yesterday she confirmed that once I had signed
and returned a release form allowing my story to go public, I would
officially be eligible to go public. This particular book is due out
for purchase next year sometime, not sure exactly when, but will let
everyone know as soon as I know.
It's finally going to happen after all this time! People are finally
going to see rosacea for what it really is. A before and after
picture will also be included in that book. Actually I specifically
told the editor that I didn't have any before pictures only because
of embarrassment, but did manage to have a picture after having a
very aggressive treatment, plus a snap shot of myself now. I know
it's not primetime television, but at least it will finally be out in
the open for ALL the public to read about. Maybe at last, those who
do read it, will realize just how devasting and delibating this
horrible disease actually is to everyone alike.
I guess it's true what they say about a little persistence, patience,
and having a posititive attitude can definitely go along way.
Ann
It is not water loss. Definitely not true. Considering how much water I drink,
if it was
water loss, I'd not lose a pound. If you want a more valid theory, it may be due
to
fewer calories, but it is not due to water loss. I feel like a sloshing lake
awalking
sometimes!!

Hi All
The following is my view of the Atkins Diet and rosacea. I hope you do
not see it as spam but as simple common sense and evidence backed by
medical doctors.
Kind regards

Atkins Diet and Rosacea?
The Atkins Diet is currently one of the most popular in the diet
industry. It was popularized by the the late Robert Atkins. People lose
weight with this diet due to its diuretic (water loss) effect. Some
people with rosacea experience some reduction in rosacea symptoms with
this type of diet due its diuretic effect. Removing water from the body
can help in the removal of toxic heat.
The Atkins Diet is also one of the most controversial and potentially
dangerous diets for long term health. There are those in western
medicine who see this diet as very unbalanced due to its high protein
low carbohydrate orientation. See doctor links below. Eastern medicine
shares the same view.

Taking an antihistamine or allergy medicine will help. My doctor
prescribed allegra for me and I take it every day and my face has not
itched or stinged since I started taking it, and allegra will not make
you drowsy.

Dr. Mercola's "blog" made the following statement. Since I am a bit cynical, I
cannot "hear" his talk about "electromagnetic frequency", but I do believe I
hear his heart of hearts, and deep inside, I do agree with him, that everyone
could benefit, if we send out positive "vibes", as we called them in the 60s.
So, may the positive electromagnetic frequency be with you...., and with all the
MDs, whose help we desperately need, to prescribe [FLUCONAZOLE 1% SOLUTION], to
cure all rosaceans...., as per:
Kathy,
you are welcome. your weakness will improve once your
metabolism gets used to the protein, but the main thing
is that you see this controls rosacea.....

Good Luck!.
Hello,
I am a new member, and I joined to pass the word that a natural
product I used to heal my moderate Rosacea worked.
I still get a flare up a couple of times a year, but if I return to
my routine for a week, it controls it. My Rosacea, at its worst, was
a bright red face, with some tightness. I was diagnosed by a
dermatologist with it. He gave me the usual meds. I am not a fan of
long term prescription drugs, so when I heard about this, I went for
it and didn't use the drugs.
I am in no way connected to any company, and I cannot guarantee
success for everyone, but you may want to consider it.
good luck!
AM, I wash with a mild non-soap cleanser, my choice is Audrey
Organics "Vegecol" number 6 facial cleansing lotion for Sensitive Skin
(another choice that worked well, unbelievably, was Noxzema, although
my skin seems to do better with the Aubrey's)
and then any oil free sensitive skin moisturizer, I like Neutrogena
PM same wash
and then the product that really helped: Dr Haushka's Rythmic
Conditioner, Sensitive. They are in vials. I break one open nightly
and pat my one on my face. (available at most natural food
supermarkets, and online. You must get the nightly ones that are
marked SENSITIVE)
Within a couple of months, keeping to this routine, my skin was
cleared. I now use the drops when I have an occasional flare-up,
which are far and few between.
I stick with Aubrey's and moisturizing twice a day, watch my diet and
stress.
Again, all the best in your journey of finding comfort.

Brady, Thanks for the info, I quit smoking about 12 years ago, so I'm
not doing them both at the same time thank God! This is not as hard as
it was to quit smoking, it is hard , but not as hard as the nicotene. My
face is much improved and I am very happy about that!! I do feel very
weak in the mornings, I think that will fix itself later on. THanks
again! Kathy
Your cleanser might be contributing to the problem in terms of
dryness. Also, are you sure you don't have an allergy? Have yo been
diagnosed with Seb Derm? Just a couple of thoughts.
Most lotions tend to dry out the skin because of the high water
content. If you truly have dry-itchy skin, you need something that
has more of a barrier effect. Have you tried applying jojoba oil on
damp skin works well for oily skin as well. If your climate or
indoor air is dry, your skin could be dehydrated - this would show
up with as flaky itch skin, even its is oily. Sleeping with a
humidifier and/or keeping a small one near where you work helps.
Sometimes you have to incorporate more than one approach to help
alleviate the problem.
Group and Moderators,
Ditto on the water (filtered if possible). Try to drink as much as
you can. Remember that some meats/cheeses are somewhat salty, so
the water helps flush out the excess sodium as well. Excess sodium
can contribute to constipation. Increase the the allowed veggies if
you can, that will help. But the water is very important.
Glad you quit smoking, your body will love you!
